Scheepjes CAL/KAL Kits
Scheepjes KAL 2022 - Sassenach - Carmen Jorissen of New Leaf Designs has been inspired both by the book and hit TV series Outlander and fond memories of holidays spent in the Trossachs and Cairngorms National Parks. The Sassenach KAL intends to transport knitters from far and wide on a journey through the majestic Scottish landscapes. Carmen has designed a pair of complementary cushion covers exclusively for the Sassenach KAL. Knitted using the stranded colourwork technique, each has its own nature, reflecting the spirit of the two main Outlander characters. The Claire cushion features motifs based on medicinal herbs while the Jamie cushion includes tartan patterning. Both are knitted with Scheepjes Metropolis, an Extra Fine Merino Wool blend yarn known for its warmth, soft touch and lightly heathered appearance.
CKAL 2024 - Goldcrest Scarf - Create a knitted or crocheted colourwork scarf, representing the beautiful shades of the goldcrest, brilliantly designed by Martin Up North. Martin’s intricate designs incorporate a number of different techniques to keep the crafter engaged, including mosaic crochet and mosaic knitting. The first project is part of the Dawn Chorus series, a tribute to songbirds. The Goldcrest Scarf, inspired by the beautiful colours of the goldcrest, is suitable for advanced crocheters and knitters. The pattern uses a number of techniques, such as mosaic crochet and knitting, which are alternated throughout the scarf, to keep the pattern interesting. You will make the scarf with Scheepjes Metropolis, a wonderfully soft, yet strong yarn of 75% Merino Wool and 25% Nylon. In addition to the yarn, the kit also contains some nice extras.
