Sandnes Garn has arrived in Dubai!
Long-time followers might remember a trip we made to Norway in 2023. A good friend (hi, Elin!) arranged for us to have a tour of the factory after normal office hours. It was eye-opening and a wonderful experience!
We saw the process from having the raw wool in massive piles, the wool being cleaned and carded several times, the dyeing process (although it was mostly done in large industrial machines), the drying process, the spinning, the packaging 9most mesmerising!). The entire process gives you a sense of the scale of the journey that a mere 50g ball of yarn takes. No one who has witnessed this cycle would ever bat an eyelid at the cost of yarn.
It is a massive undertaking, with so many moving parts, and so many actual human beings overseeing the process. So while it is largely mechanised, the humans behind the yarn manufacturing process can never be discounted. Massive respect to everyone at Sandesgarn’s operations.
Enough about me waxing lyrical about this, let’s get to the juicy bit. Yes, we are the proud distributor of this amazing ethically and sustainably-produced yarns.
There is a wide range of yarn types to choose from but we focused on their most popular lines: Duo, Double Sunday, Line, Mandarin Naturelle and Petite Knit Double Sunday. We are starting with a few core colourways, expanding as we go. We also have a few pattern booklets for these yarns. You can only purchase the pattern booklets if you purchase the yarn. Meet the new stars of the shop at ARTE The Makers’ Market in Times Square Center on Saturday, 12 April from 10am to 7pm. We will have a limited supply at the market but you can always purchase from the webshop if you need more. Shipping fee will be waived for any purchases made during the pop-up market.
We cannot wait for you to experience knitting with some of the best quality yarns in teh world. Life is too short to be knitting with sub-standard materials. Don’t you agree?
